Only One Support

Mangroves are incredible natural solutions to the intertwined climate and biodiversity crises. They capture CO2 at higher rates than almost any other habitat, protect coastal communities from storms, and are home to enormous biodiversity. Mangroves are also essential to the livelihoods of coastal communities, providing resources such as timber, firewood, fish, honey, and traditional medicines. This unique combination of values makes mangroves essential allies in achieving our global goals, supporting some of the most vulnerable populations and humanity as a whole.

The “IMPACT PROJECT INFO” project, implemented by Wetlands International Africa – West Coast and Gulf of Guinea, aims to improve coordination and collaboration among stakeholders working on mangrove conservation and restoration. The project will also demonstrate best practices through conservation, restoration, and livelihood activities.
The long-term goal is to plant more than 600,000 mangrove trees to rehabilitate 60 hectares of mangrove cover through community-based ecological restoration, supporting the livelihoods of the community, particularly women, in Casamance and the Saloum Delta.
