{"id":3190,"date":"2018-07-12T11:16:50","date_gmt":"2018-07-12T11:16:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/westafrica.wetlands.org\/en\/annual-review-accounts-2017\/"},"modified":"2023-11-03T11:03:21","modified_gmt":"2023-11-03T11:03:21","slug":"annual-review-accounts-2017","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/westafrica.wetlands.org\/en\/annual-review-accounts-2017\/","title":{"rendered":"Annual Review and Accounts 2017"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: left\">Wetlands International has continued its\u2019 work\u00a0in Europe, Africa, Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean to show how managing wetlands can\u00a0open the door to sustainable development and be\u00a0effective in building resilience to climate change. We\u00a0also demonstrated the link between the condition of\u00a0wetlands, human security and peace. In this report,\u00a0you can find many promising examples, including our\u00a0\u00a0\u201cbreakthrough\u201d achievements under each Stream of\u00a0our Strategic Intent.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">These outcomes are the fruits of\u00a0many years of work and are a cause to celebrate. The\u00a0results help us to build momentum for scaling up our\u00a0efforts.\u00a0In the report we also mention some new alliances and\u00a0programmes which are concrete means for scaling up\u00a0and increasing the impact of our work. For example,\u00a0we established a long-term programme for mangrove\u00a0conservation at the continental level in Africa and\u00a0we joined the Global Mangrove Alliance to combine\u00a0forces with NGO partners for a global level outcome.\u00a0Last but not least I would like to mention that we\u00a0welcomed the chance to work with a range of new\u00a0partners in 2017, to gain the support of a number of\u00a0additional donors and to bring on board additional\u00a0Associate Experts. Together with the continued\u00a0invaluable support of our government and NGO\u00a0members, these additional supporters have enriched<br \/>\nthe organisation. Thank you all!
