{"id":3250,"date":"2022-08-25T10:46:06","date_gmt":"2022-08-25T10:46:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/westafrica.wetlands.org\/en\/wetlands-international-sahel-builds-the-capacity-of-decision-makers-in-guinea-and-mali-on-the-decision-support-tools-developed-under-the-bamgire-program\/"},"modified":"2023-11-03T11:03:37","modified_gmt":"2023-11-03T11:03:37","slug":"wetlands-international-sahel-builds-the-capacity-of-decision-makers-in-guinea-and-mali-on-the-decision-support-tools-developed-under-the-bamgire-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/westafrica.wetlands.org\/en\/wetlands-international-sahel-builds-the-capacity-of-decision-makers-in-guinea-and-mali-on-the-decision-support-tools-developed-under-the-bamgire-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Wetlands International Sahel builds the capacity of decision-makers in Guinea and Mali on the decision support tools developed under the BAMGIRE program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two information and awareness-raising sessions for high-level decision-makers on the challenges of the services provided by the ecosystems of the Upper Niger and the Inner Niger Delta in connection with the decision-making tools for the Integrated Water Resource Management ( IWRM) in the context of climate change took place on August 2022 as part of the BAMGIRE program, funded by the Embassies of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Mali.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-9619 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/westafrica.wetlands.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2022\/08\/Picture-1-480x320.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"320\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Under the chairmanship of the Ministers in charge of Administration, these two sessions in Guinea and Mali mobilized several high-level decision-makers, namely:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Ministry of Territorial Administration and Decentralization in Mali;<\/li>\n<li>The Ministry of Mines, Energy and Water in Guinea and Mali;<\/li>\n<li>The Ministry of Rural Development in Mali;<\/li>\n<li>The Ministry of the Environment, Sanitation and Sustainable Development in Mali;<\/li>\n<li>The Ministry of Rural Development in Mali;<\/li>\n<li>The President of the High Council of Communities of Mali;<\/li>\n<li>Governors of the regions along the river Niger and Bani in Guinea and Mali;<\/li>\n<li>The Commission for Rural Development, Environment and Sanitation of Water and Water Energy and the Environment of National Transition Council in Mali ;<\/li>\n<li>The Niger Basin Authority in Niamey (Niger);<\/li>\n<li>The President of the Association of Municipalities of Mali;<\/li>\n<li>The General Director of FOMI dam in Guinea.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The general objective of these two workshops was to inform and raise the awareness of high-level decision-makers on the challenges of the services provided by the ecosystems of the Upper Niger and the Inner Niger Delta in connection with the decision-making tools for the Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) in the context of climate change<\/p>\n<p>And specifically:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Present the achievements of PCA-GIRE_BAMGIRE to decision-makers;<\/li>\n<li>Understand through indicators and trend analysis how to make a decision or choose the right water management compromise for the benefit of communities and social and societal values.<\/li>\n<li>Make recommendations\/commitments for a good integrated management of water resources in Mali for the benefit of users of natural resources in general and water in particular.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-9617\" src=\"https:\/\/westafrica.wetlands.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2022\/08\/Picture-2-480x322.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"342\" height=\"229\" \/> \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-9615\" src=\"https:\/\/westafrica.wetlands.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2022\/08\/Picture-3-480x321.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"346\" height=\"231\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Panel is consisting of the President of the CNU Mali, National Hydraulic Director Mali, Director Wetlands Int, and Moderator President Partnership Nation of Water of Mali.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-9613\" src=\"https:\/\/westafrica.wetlands.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2022\/08\/Picture-4-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"341\" height=\"183\" \/>.\u00a0 <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-9611 \" src=\"https:\/\/westafrica.wetlands.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2022\/08\/Picture-5-e1661424149145-480x256.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"338\" height=\"180\" \/><br \/>\n<em>Decision-markers workshop in Kankan, Guin\u00e9e<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Following these two workshops, recommendations were made to kick-start IWRM in the two countries.
