Seagrass beds are one of the ocean’s most important habitats. They act as nurseries and feeding grounds, protecting our coasts and storing carbon, among other benefits. At the same time, they are one of the world’s least known ecosystems and are in urgent need of protection. One of the main reasons for the lack of protection of seagrass beds is the lack of information on some of the most fundamental aspects of their distribution and health. This project will aim to strengthen knowledge of seagrass beds in West Africa and carry out pilot actions at selected sites, designed to implement management tools and improve their protection status and the services they provide.Countries of intervention: Senegal, Mauritania, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Cape Verde, Sierra Leone, GambiaProject partners: MAVA, GRID-ARENDAL, WIA, UNEP, ABIDJAN CONVENTION<\/p>\n\n\n\n
