They capture CO2 at higher rates than almost any other habitat, protect coastal communities from storms, and are home to enormous biodiversity. Mangroves are also essential to the livelihoods of coastal communities, providing resources such as timber, firewood, fish, honey, and traditional medicines. This unique combination of values makes mangroves essential allies in achieving our global goals, supporting some of the most vulnerable populations and humanity as a whole.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" src=\"https:\/\/westafrica.wetlands.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2025\/05\/image-42.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4760\" srcset=\"https:\/\/westafrica.wetlands.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2025\/05\/image-42.png 800w, https:\/\/westafrica.wetlands.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2025\/05\/image-42-300x200.png 300w, https:\/\/westafrica.wetlands.org\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2025\/05\/image-42-768x512.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The &#8220;IMPACT PROJECT INFO&#8221; project, implemented by Wetlands International Africa &#8211; West Coast and Gulf of Guinea, aims to improve coordination and collaboration among stakeholders working on mangrove conservation and restoration.
