This meeting, part of the PAPBio C1-Mangroves project &#8220;Management of Mangrove Forests from Senegal to Benin,&#8221; implemented by the IUCN, WIACO, and 5Deltas consortium, aimed to finalize and validate the Management Master Plan for the Priority Conservation Landscape (PCL) of the &#8220;Grand Saloum,&#8221; an area of \u200b\u200bmajor ecological importance stretching between Senegal and The Gambia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This plan, focused on biodiversity conservation and the sustainable management of mangrove ecosystems, aims to ensure the sustainability of the environmental, economic, and sociocultural services they provide and to strengthen resilience in the face of climate change. Developed in collaboration with stakeholders from both countries, it will serve as a reference to guide development and conservation initiatives in the landscape. The meeting was also an opportunity to discuss the functioning of the established national and cross-border platforms, as well as the results of the projects funded under the PAPBio C1-Mangroves project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the participants, the opening ceremony was attended by the Governor of the North Bank region of Gambia, local authorities from the commune of Toubacouta, and the Director of DAMCP, all of whom emphasized the importance of this plan for the landscape and environmental actions. This workshop was a crucial step in the process of preserving the mangroves of the &#8220;Grand Saloum&#8221; region.
