\u2618\ufe0fThe educational community of Dionewar & Niodior hosted the first edition of hashtag#WetlandsKidsDay<\/strong><\/a>, an initiative designed and implemented by Wetlands International Africa<\/strong><\/a>. The main objective is to use play as an educational tool to facilitate learning and encourage young people to get involved in conserving their environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day brought together pupils, teachers, supervisors and local partners for fun activities designed to reinforce their knowledge of the mangrove and the delta’s biodiversity. Educational challenges focused on the mangrove and biodiversity<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day was structured around four successive educational workshops, designed to impart knowledge while stimulating the participants’ analytical, memory and cooperation skills.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\udcd6Reading and interpretation of the comic book \u2018Youssoupha and the Mangrove\u2019. Pupils discovered the story of a young hero confronted with conservation issues in his village.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83e\udde9 Ecosystem puzzle representing landscapes, species and natural elements of the delta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\ud83d\uddfeNature Memory Cards: The pupils competed in a memory game focusing on fauna, flora and good environmental practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The pupils were given a fun and educational day out at the Wetlands Centre, where they took part in a range of activities designed to teach them about the importance of the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The day ended with an official award ceremony for the hashtag#WetlandsKidsDay<\/strong><\/a> Trophy, and all the schools present received school supplies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A very positive outcome for a first edition: with strong participation, a high level of engagement and a collaborative dynamic between schools, Wetlands Kids Day is proving to be a promising initiative for environmental education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
