Wetlands International Africa is holding a Learning Workshop on the Landscape Approach in Jeta–Pecixe–Cacheu (JPC) landscape, bringing together representatives from government institutions, civil society organizations, development partners, and other key landscape stakeholders.

The initiative is organized under the Wetlands for Resilience (W4R) program, funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), which aims to promote healthy, biodiverse, and well-managed wetland landscapes, contributing to climate resilience, food security, and sustainable development.

The Jeta–Pecixe–Cacheu landscape is one of the program’s priority areas of intervention in Guinea-Bissau. In this context, W4R supports a multisectoral partnership that promotes integrated actions to strengthen the resilience of communities and ecosystems, encourage sustainable natural resource management practices, and foster a resilient blue economy.

Over the course of the two-day workshop, participants will deepen their understanding of the principles and practical application of the landscape approach, share experiences and lessons learned from other landscapes, and reflect on mechanisms to strengthen collaboration among the various stakeholders.

The workshop will also provide an opportunity to analyze and strengthen the current strategic proposal for the Jeta–Pecixe–Cacheu landscape, identifying opportunities to expand best practices in the sustainable management of natural resources, ecosystem restoration, and the improvement of livelihoods for local communities.

Key expected outcomes include a more solid shared understanding of the integrated landscape approach, capacity building for participants, refinement of the landscape development proposal, and the definition of concrete actions for the next 90 days.

Wetlands International considers this workshop an important opportunity to consolidate the Jeta–Pecixe–Cacheu landscape partnership and accelerate actions that promote wetland conservation, food security, and the well-being of local populations.
